Text 3 Jul 1 note BarFly IPA

Name: BarFly IPA

Brewer: Barley Island Brewing Company, Noblesville, Ind.

By the numbers: About 195 calories per 12 oz.; 6.5 percent alcohol by volume

Notes: I continue to be impressed with this craft brewer from Indiana. Last year I tried their Dirty Helen brown ale and Blind Tiger pale ale and liked them both, noting that they tasted like classic examples of their respective styles. BarFly continues that trend. This is a solid American India Pale Ale (IPA). It poured a deep golden-orange color with a light head that laced the glass. BarFly had a fruity aroma with a hint of citrus and a rich hop flavor similar to Sierra Nevada Estate. This is a very good beer.

Try it with: Prepping for a long holiday weekend. Yard mowed? Check. Garden weeded? Check. Rib rub made? Check. House clean? Check. Plenty of different beers in the refrigerator? Check. Bring on the barbecue and fireworks, America.
